HMS Conway
I was working this morning aboard the Royal Daffodil, hosting a special cruise for the Conway Club. It was the 150th Anniversary of HMS Conway and past Captains and Officers from all over the world had descended upon Liverpool for a celebratory weekend. They all came aboard the Royal Daffodil at the Pier Head and we headed up river to Rock Ferry where the HMS Conway was berthed for many years. The Wallasey Sea Cadets sounded the Last Post as the chaplain dropped a wreath in to the Mersey and led prayers in memory of the ship. We then headed to New Brighton to be entertained by the New Brighton Life Boat crew who performed ‘man overboard’ techniques and spectacular figure of eights in the hi-speed inflatable rigid lifeboat, Rocklight. Everyone had a great trip and best of all, the weather was glorious! If you’d like to know more about HMS Conway and its history, see www.hmsconway.org
